DAWSON Maud (nee Searle)

Maud was born at her grandparents farm ‘Clear Hills’ to William Junior and Margaret “Maggie” Searle nee Maher.

Maud attended Nigalup State School. She later met Arthur at her parents property ‘Grove Farm’ also in the Toolbrunup area.

Maud was a member of the Gnowangerup RSL Women’s Auxiliary, she was vice president in 1935 and president in 1936.

She taught her children to play the piano, and also taught them by correspondence at home until they got to “long division".
The family then moved into Gnowangerup so the children could attend school.
Maud helped cater for the suppers at the Masonic Lodge meetings and was a staunch member of the Catholic Church.
Maud passed away in November 1941. She is mourned by her husband Arthur and their children, Nell, Veronica, Sheilah, Bill and Leo.

Arthur and Maud are buried together at Karakatta.
